Support Military Families
Fisher House is a respected charitable foundation that provides important help to military families in times of crisis and financial need. When a soldier, sailor, airman, or marine is wounded or injured and sent to a military hospital, his or her family often must travel long distances at great expense to be near him or her. Fisher House provides military families in need with a temporary place to live very near the hospital at little or no cost. Fisher House receives support from the U.S. government and other charities, but without contributions from people like us they couldn't continue this good work. You can get all the details at the Fisher House website. It's important to say we support our troops, but it's more important to do something about it.

Thanks for posting this. I've got 2 Marine nephews in Iraq right now - one for his 2nd tour. His best friend died there during their 1st tour. It's disgusted me that so many men and women who get wounded do not get the support they and their families need. But I had no idea what one could do. I think a gift to Fisher House will mean a lot more than spending money on 'standard' holiday gifts. Thanks for spreading the word...I'm on my way to their site. Cheers.
I'm not sure which one you're referring to. Each of the military services has something like Army Emergency Relief, and they're all good. Plus, there are separate organizations that also do good work. I would just suggest that before contributing to one you check it out a little. And thanks for being interested!
There's a clip of the President's visit to Fisher house on Reuters.com
