Skewering ABC News

The examples of leftist bias in the mainstream media are so numerous and so obvious that it's hardly worth the effort to comment on them anymore. However, this one is too extreme to ignore. If you haven't seen it yet, go to this Power Line post to find another example of ABC News' sense of "balance."

ABC News ran this request on their website briefly, then quickly took it down after Power Line skewered them:

Jan. 19, 2005 — For a possible Inauguration Day story on ABC News, we are trying to find out if there any military funerals for Iraq war casualties scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 20. If you know of a funeral and whether the family might be willing to talk to ABC News, please fill out the form below: (followed by e-mailer form)

So, what do we have here? ABC News, whose pampered megastar Peter Jennings went overboard describing the inauguration as "lavish" throughout ABC's coverage, felt they needed to cover a military funeral at the same time President Bush was being inaugurated. (I'm sure they would have cut into the Inaugural Address with "breaking news" coverage of the funeral if they could have.) These people are pathetically tone-deaf. Not only would this have been highly disrespectful of the President (no matter who he is), it would have dishonored the memory of the soldier killed in action by using his funeral as part of a cheap political statement.

Perhaps we should all send Peter Jennings an e-mail with just one line: Remember Dan Rather?

Although I'm certainly all for liberal "bias" in media, and believe there should be more, more, more skewering of the current prez (oh, shut up, Sir Tom, I'm joking...sort of), that call for funeral coverage makes me want to hurl.

Ooopsie. I think I just did. Pardon.

Damn flu.

I've been boycotting Peter Jennings and his usual anti-Israel bias for so long, I thought I'd drop in on the coverage Jan. 20 and was as appalled as you (and I wrote about it too). I'm no huge fan of Bush (hated Kerry more though), but come on! Jennings hasn't changed a bit and I agree -- you'd think after what happened to Rather, it would at least have these guys behaving for a few days, right? Wrong.

Are you not aware that "Fox News / You dont support Bush then you support the enemy " exists? Or are you conveniently leaving that out.
