U.S. Military Contribution

I haven't seen much media coverage of the scale of the U.S. military contribution to disaster relief in Asia. CNN has done a few interviews that include some details, but they're still discussing it in the tired context of "is the U.S. really stingy?" For some good information, go to The Adventures of Chester.

FYI:

You may know this already...but the UN official never said that the US was "stingy" with it's aid to tsunami victims. The official specifically said "wealthy nations".

The press has really gone nuts on this....and it's not factual.

Carla, thanks for the comment. I know you're right. But that statement obviously implied the U.S., along with Japan, Germany, etc. As you say, once the press jumped on it, it was off to the races. From what I'm hearing Egeland say the last few days, it's clear he wishes he'd never said it, particularly in light of what's being done.
