George W. Bush was out jogging one morning when he tripped, fell over a bridge railing, and landed in the creek below. Before the Secret Service guys could get to him, three kids who were fishing pulled him out of the water. He was so grateful he offered the kids whatever they wanted.

The first kid said, "I sure would like to go to Disneyland." George said, "No problem. I'll take you there on Air Force One."

The second kid said, "I really need a new pair of Nike Air Jordan's." George said, "I'll get them for you and even have Michael sign them!"

The third kid said, "I want a motorized wheelchair with a built-in TV and stereo!" Dubya was a little perplexed by this and said, "But you don't look like you're injured."

The kid said, "I will be after my dad finds out I saved your ass from drowning!"

LOL...

that's a good one.

But, I don't know. You know after going through the hate stage..or the frustration stage, he's a character and a half. It's very difficult to hate Bush. Sometimes I suspect everyone who goes nuts proclaiming their hate, has a secret corner within them only because he has the capacity to make a person laugh and it's this factor that gave him the edge (I think) to win the election.

I went through one year (just prior to Iraq II and during Iraq round II) with this anger and then.. when he was doing the circuit I cracked up and i won't forget it. I was sitting in the usual TV armchair watching the news and he was standing with a mic in his hand making fun of himself.

He said something to the effect of his English being so bad that he had to get Arnold Schwarzenneger (to the tone of 'it's really bad if I need Arnie to correct me').

That pretty much cut the ice for me in many ways.

L'etranger, thanks for the comment. Some folks are so overwhelmed by hatred for Bush that they can't see his good points--rare bluntness for a politician, strong convictions, intelligence and capability in many areas, and self-deprecating humor. We should be able to disagree with him, perhaps with everything he does, without foaming at the mouth.

Tom, at the risk of being counted as someone who is blinded by my hatred, Bush and intelligence are an oxymoron. He is possibly the least intelligent President. Now Laura Bush is a whole other story. Bright and classy.

Amal, I disagree with a lot of things Bush does or wants to do, but I don't think he lacks intelligence. I suspect that some former opponents who have thought him stupid and then lost to him may have re-thought their opinions. And if you want to start deciding who was the least intelligent president, there are a number of other candidates more worthy of consideration. A good example is Ronald Reagan, who managed to successfully substitute charisma for brains (and he turned out to be a pretty successful president, too).
